Our commitments

Greenhouse gas emissions (GHG)

Faced with the climate emergency, the aviation sector, of which Poitiers-Biard airport is a part, is being called upon to reduce its carbon footprint. Since 2018, the airport has implemented an ambitious action plan, enabling it to achieve Airport Carbon Accreditation Level 2 certification. Today, the airport is aiming for level 3, a goal that requires optimization of all its operations and close collaboration with its partners.

Airport Carbon Accreditation is the only carbon management certification program for airports. It evaluates and recognizes efforts to manage and reduce carbon emissions through 6 levels of certification:

Biodiversity

Alongside its actions to reduce its carbon footprint, Poitiers-Biard airport is actively involved in protecting local biodiversity. In partnership with the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels, the airport is taking part in the Pictagraine project aimed at restoring natural grasslands, ecosystems that have been weakened by agricultural intensification. By harvesting over 25 kg of seeds per hectare from its vast grounds, the airport is contributing to the renaturation of over 200 hectares of grassland in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
